About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Marriott is responsible for overseeing the procurement process, ensuring compliance with established procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, and distributing items. This role involves managing vendor relationships, maintaining inventory controls, and supporting the Executive Chef in purchasing food and beverage items to meet business needs while adhering to budgetary constraints. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across departments to ensure operational efficiency and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and provide accurate and timely results in the form of reports and presentations.
  • Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify information or data.
  • Assure sanitation compliance and maintain safety standards as specified in brand guidelines.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of purchasing to ensure quality and profitability.
  • Order all food and beverage based on business needs and assist in maintaining budgeted costs.
  • Delegate and enforce first in/first out inventory rotation for all storeroom products.
  • Communicate with kitchen, restaurant management, and vendors to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Check invoices against shipments to ensure accuracy in quantity and quality.
  • Maintain inventory controls for proper levels, dating, rotation, and requisitions.
  • Complete administrative tasks on a timely basis, including inventory calculations and bookkeeping procedures.

Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or related major, or a minimum of 2 years' experience in Purchasing or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes.
  • Ability to use computers and software for data processing and reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost management.
