About the position

The Purchasing Manager will oversee the supply chain operations for the company, ensuring efficient procurement processes and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. This role involves strategic planning, negotiation, and collaboration with various departments to optimize inventory levels and mitigate risks in the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement the overall supply chain strategy.
  • Define, install, and maintain business system parameters and requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineers, Sales, and Operations to determine supply chain solutions from a technical and business perspective.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Negotiate terms and prices with suppliers.
  • Set stocking levels to run a lean, but sufficient inventory level to meet company requirements.
  • Perform periodic risk assessments of the supplier base to identify, correct and/or mitigate weaknesses in the supply chain.
  • Maintain supplier redundancy as needed to eliminate supply chain disruptions or to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Ensure all materials are purchased at the most competitive price while ensuring stocking levels remain within target range.

Requirements

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, similar field, and/or relevant experience.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • The ability to work as a team.
