About the position

The Purchasing Manager at COE Press Equipment is responsible for setting procurement policies and strategies to ensure the acquisition of materials, supplies, and equipment that meet the company's requirements. This role involves overseeing vendor performance, leading a team of buyers, and collaborating with various departments to ensure timely shipment of customer orders. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Set policies and strategies for procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Compare quotes to establish price savings with vendors.
• Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations.
• Lead a team of buyers and administrative professionals to achieve purchasing objectives.
• Maintain metrics to monitor supplier performance and hold suppliers accountable.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Assembly departments to ensure on-time shipment of customer orders.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in heavy manufacturing or capital equipment industry.
• Minimum 1-2 years managing direct reports required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field preferred.
• Strong record of working with suppliers to meet cost reduction and on-time delivery targets.
• Experience communicating and presenting information to all levels of the organization, both oral and written.
• Ability to work comfortably in a team environment and multi-task.
• Self-motivated individual with attention to detail.
• Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.

Nice-to-haves
