About the position

The Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement of materials and equipment for various construction projects, ensuring compliance with established policies and managing vendor relationships. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing process within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all purchases adhere to established policies and procedures
  • Manage vendor relationships and expectations involved with procuring materials, equipment, and services
  • Prepare, verify, and forward purchase orders
  • Complete analysis of pricing and price comparison for materials and equipment used in projects
  • Collaborate with estimating to keep bids current, accurate, and competitive
  • Provide procurement support to project managers
  • Work with Operations team to ensure suppliers are delivering according to contract
  • Interact with various internal departments to improve current procurement practices and coordinate excellent service to internal customers
  • Create innovative agreements that bring added value to the business
  • Oversee vendor relationships and expectations involved with procuring materials, equipment, and services
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Solid working knowledge of electric construction materials, equipment, and services used in commercial and industrial projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to mentor and train colleagues and proven ability to supervise employees
  • Proficient understanding of MS Office Suite applications, especially Excel
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Team player
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies
  • Basic understanding of materials accounting practices
  • Minimum 2 years in a purchasing/procurement role
  • High school diploma or GED
