About the position

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Deputy Sheriff. This entry-level role involves overseeing individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial in a direct supervision pretrial facility. The position offers opportunities for promotion to various divisions within the Sheriff's Office, including administration, court services, jail, field operations, and investigative services. Candidates must be prepared for a comprehensive background check and drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Responsibilities

• Oversee individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial.
• Ensure the safety and security of the jail facility.
• Maintain order and discipline among inmates.
• Assist in the processing of inmates and their records.
• Participate in training and development programs as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid Georgia Driver's License.
• Must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application.
• Must be a US Citizen for certification.
• Ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.
• Must obtain a state certificate from jailer's school within six months from the date of hire.
• Ability to use a computer for data entry in jail management software and report writing.
• Law enforcement, military, or security experience is highly preferred.

Nice-to-haves
