About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Julius Silvert is responsible for overseeing purchasing operations within a fast-paced food distribution environment. This role involves liaising between Purchasing, Operations, and Sales to enhance operational efficiencies and ensure effective vendor management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, systematic, and possesses a strong background in food distribution, with a passion for specialty foods.

Responsibilities

• Organize & scale the company's earned income efforts
• Hold vendors accountable to newly implemented operational processes and systems
• Partner with sales to monitor and manage aged inventory
• Serve as liaison between sales and purchasing to vet all new item requests
• Co-manage the efforts of the Purchasing Coordinator specific to inbound freight, backhauls, and time-sensitive requests
• Maintain records, spreadsheets, supporting documentation, and files regarding supplier activities, programs, and profiles
• Resolve product supply issues by working across operations and buying teams directly with vendors
• Monitor documentation for item setup and input data and pricing into the company system

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience within a food distribution environment required
• Earned income, contract, and/or freight experience strongly preferred
• Experience managing teams
• Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Tools
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with constant changes
• Must be able to communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization including ownership
