About the position

The Purchasing Manager is a detail-oriented supply chain professional responsible for managing the supply chain operations of the company. This role involves planning and implementing supply chain strategies, collaborating with various departments, and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure efficient procurement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement the overall supply chain strategy.
  • Define, install, and maintain business system parameters and requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineers, Sales, and Operations to determine supply chain solutions from a technical and business perspective.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Negotiate terms and prices with suppliers.
  • Set stocking levels to run a lean, but sufficient inventory level to meet company requirements.
  • Perform periodic risk assessments of the supplier base to identify, correct and/or mitigate weaknesses in the supply chain.
  • Maintain supplier redundancy where needed to eliminate supply chain disruptions or to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Ensure all materials are purchased at the most competitive price while ensuring stocking levels remain within target range.

Requirements

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, similar field, and/or relevant experience.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • The ability to work as a team.
