About the position

The Purchasing Manager will provide operational leadership and functional expertise to enhance productivity and ensure a world-class customer experience. This role is essential for managing supplier relationships, sourcing activities, and compliance with quality standards, while also supporting the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules program. The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential for full-time hire, reporting directly to the Director of Purchasing & Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

  • Designing a supply chain suitable for meeting all quality, delivery and cost requirements of the business
  • Identify all supplier & supplier risks and develop the necessary mitigation activities
  • Undertake all sourcing activities in line with company processes and tools
  • Ensuring all suppliers engaged comply with required quality standards and demonstrate commitment to ESG and CSR targets
  • Ensure sourcing is done in compliance with relevant category strategies and plans
  • Establish standard work consistent with the global BMS and ensure orders are placed and approved in the company's ERP system
  • Support existing program reporting requirements
  • Work with Buyers to ensure Purchase Orders are placed timely and deliveries by suppliers are made on time
  • Input to budgets, forecasts and hold responsibility for them
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports/metrics of performance for management review
  • Drive overall root cause analysis and corrective actions within the business and measure these effectively

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field is strongly preferred; equivalent vocational qualifications will also be considered
  • Background in International procurement and USA specific sourcing and supplier management
  • Knowledge and experience to drive best practice in supplier selection, screening for diligence and compliance, and management
  • Strong analytical capability (supply chain, operational and financial)
  • Articulate and confident in working within a dispersed global team
  • Skilled at working across different businesses and regional cultures
  • Strong team player able to contribute as part of the wider company's procurement function
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide clarity in situations requiring honesty and candor
  • Strong process and problem-solving orientation

Nice-to-haves

  • A professional Procurement certification (e.g. MCIPS accreditation or similar) is preferred but not vital depending on demonstrated Supply Chain leadership experience
  • Experience with Aviation procurement and/or supply chain
  • Previous military experience in a similar role
