About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Chart Industries is responsible for overseeing the procurement activities within the organization, ensuring effective supplier management, and optimizing inventory levels to support on-time customer deliveries. This role involves managing a team of purchasing professionals, developing strategic sourcing strategies, and driving cost efficiencies across the supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Managing and mentoring a dynamic team of purchasing professionals
• Establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for procurement activities
• Reporting to management on supplier performance and corrective actions
• Ensuring performance improvement and recovery plans are developed and tracked
• Negotiating and executing purchase orders or vendor contracts
• Managing material flow to maintain optimal inventory levels
• Developing and implementing commodity/supply chain strategies
• Leading strategic sourcing processes to drive cost out of the supply chain
• Driving usage of cost models to validate commodity strategies
• Managing supplier relationships and developing a competitive vendor base
• Managing materials savings initiatives in line with profit plans

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Production/Operations Management, or Engineering or equivalent business experience
• 7-10 years progressive experience in Purchasing & Sourcing in the manufacturing industry
• Good understanding of packaging components and associated commodities
• Solid track record of meeting material cost reduction targets
• Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts to achieve objectives
• Ability to identify and recommend process improvements
