About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Transource Inc. is responsible for overseeing the purchasing process, ensuring that the company acquires materials, products, and services efficiently and cost-effectively. This role involves developing and executing purchasing strategies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with company management to forecast demand and improve purchasing activities, ultimately contributing to the company's operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and execute all purchasing strategies for goods and services that are not for re-sale by the company.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor partners and suppliers and execute negotiation strategies to achieve optimal terms.
  • Manage purchasing activities to ensure all vendors meet company requirements in terms of price, quality, delivery, and ease of doing business.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks associated with purchasing.
  • Follow all applicable laws and regulations at all times.
  • Work with company management to determine required quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
  • Utilize technology to find efficiencies and automation in purchasing processes.
  • Seek constant improvement in purchasing activities to lower costs and enhance competitive advantages.
  • Assist in developing more effective invoicing and collecting processes.
  • Track all goods and services to ensure timely receipt as ordered.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.
  • Represent the company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of distributing purchased materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Arrange for disposal of unused/surplus assets and materials.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of company fixed assets and supplies.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience managing the purchasing process.
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, filtering, IF functions, and pivot tables.
  • Strong organizational skills.
