About the position

The Purchasing Team Lead for the Automation Solutions Business Unit is responsible for overseeing the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and services to meet the financial and operational goals of the organization. This role involves developing the Purchasing Team, implementing advanced Supply Chain Strategies, and fostering a Lean Culture within a dynamic team environment. The position also includes making recommendations for hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions, as well as providing performance evaluations and feedback for direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Manufacturing, Materials, Project Managers, Engineering, Sales, and leadership to drive Supply Chain performance.
• Develops and executes on-time delivery, inventory turns, and inventory availability adherence to production plans.
• Coordinates with materials management to develop inventory investment strategies and set goals for areas of responsibility.
• Facilitates and leads strong supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Investigates potential delays or quality issues and identifies alternative plans to support schedules.
• Supports the removal of barriers to improve shipping and receiving costs.
• Establishes and maintains systems to ensure an honest, fair, and ethical work environment.

Requirements

• Materials, Business, Finance, or Engineering degree, or equivalent experience.
• 5-10 years of Direct Purchasing or Sourcing Leadership Experience.
• Experience with computerized purchasing systems including ERP/MRP, with SAP experience desired.
• Ability to negotiate with suppliers.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to function independently.
• Effective communicator (verbal and written).
• Strong technical aptitude and analytical/data-driven.
