About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Coilmaster Corporation is responsible for overseeing the procurement process, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the availability of necessary materials to support manufacturing operations. This role involves leading a small team, implementing cost-saving strategies, and collaborating with various departments to align purchasing strategies with company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, including vendor selection, negotiations, and purchase order approvals.
  • Supervise and provide direction to a Purchasing Agent and the plant stockroom team, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in material handling and procurement.
  • Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies required for production while adhering to budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain and assess supplier relationships, focusing on quality, price, and delivery timelines.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives to drive efficiency and reduce procurement expenses without compromising quality.
  • Monitor stockroom operations to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent shortages or overstock situations.
  • Manage the purchase requisition approval process, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Production, and Quality Assurance, to align purchasing strategies with overall company goals.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost-saving achievements to the VP of Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3-4 years of experience as a Purchasing Manager in a manufacturing environment, with expertise in procurement and inventory management.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to reduce costs and secure favorable terms.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials planning.
  • Experience leading a small team, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of budget management and experience overseeing purchase requisitions.
