The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the development and deployment of Supply Chain strategies, Scheduling, and Purchase Estimating for North America. This role requires collaboration with functional leaders and internal stakeholders to drive alignment in supply planning and sourcing priorities for various programs. The Purchasing Manager will oversee tactical supply planning and execution, as well as manage the supplier network effectively. In this position, the Purchasing Manager will collaborate with both internal and external functional leaders to design and implement programs and initiatives that enhance the supply chain process. A key responsibility includes managing and overseeing the purchasing team, providing continuous coaching, and conducting personnel reviews to ensure the team's growth and quality performance. The manager will also develop and implement departmental processes aimed at improving the quality and timing of operations within the department. The Purchasing Manager is accountable for overseeing the Sourcing Strategy for Direct, Indirect, and Services, setting departmental and personal goals that can be benchmarked through KPIs with year-over-year improvements. This role involves seeking out and capitalizing on strategic opportunities that yield significant advantages for the company, particularly in terms of quality, delivery, and cost. Building and maintaining relationships with current and new vendors is crucial to improving supplier deliveries, quality, and cost, including the creation of supplier scorecards to evaluate supplier performance. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers, schedule deliveries, and ensure on-time delivery of products. Addressing quality or on-time issues with suppliers through a corrective action process is also part of the role. The manager will maintain financial records of past orders, review these orders for cost, delivery, and vendor performance, and attend kick-off meetings and job-oriented conferences to stay updated on the latest changes in jobs, products, and proposals. Organizing departmental meetings to communicate job structures, budgets, and timing is essential, as is understanding and following safety and environmental regulations while identifying any concerns. Regular and predictable attendance is a critical function of this job.
