About the position

The Purchasing Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring a continuous supply of specified products of the highest quality while maintaining the best possible costs. This position is responsible for consolidating product purchasing to leverage economies of scale, which is essential for the operational efficiency of the organization. The Purchasing Manager will manage supplier partner relationships across identified categories, negotiate contracts and pricing agreements, and drive initiatives aimed at achieving cost savings and enhancing product quality. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will collaborate closely with various supply chain functions, including restaurant support, culinary, operations, accounting, and marketing. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and implementing strategies that enhance product quality while reducing food costs. The Purchasing Manager will also monitor supplier inventory levels, accurately forecast usage, and develop costing models to ensure optimal supply chain performance. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will implement and manage audit procedures to verify that invoiced amounts align with contract and distributor pricing agreements. This role also involves supporting and resolving supplier and distributor-related inquiries and opportunities. The Purchasing Manager will partner with culinary and marketing teams on product innovation, optimization, and new product launches, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with all stakeholders. The position requires a commitment to the company's mission statement and core values, as well as the ability to build support around strategic initiatives. The Purchasing Manager will also be expected to perform other related duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a continuous supply of specified products of the best quality at the best possible costs.
  • Consolidates product purchasing to capitalize on economies of scale.
  • Manages supplier and distributor relationships, contract negotiations, and overall best practices in supply chain management.
  • Monitors supplier inventory levels and accurately forecasts usage and costing models.
  • Implements and manages audit procedures to verify invoiced amounts align with contract/distributor pricing agreements.
  • Supports and resolves supplier/distributor related questions and opportunities.
  • Partners with Culinary and Marketing on product innovation, optimization, and new product launches.
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders, maintaining a commitment to collaboration.
  • Builds support around company strategic initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience, particularly in the food service industry.
  • 3+ years' experience managing purchasing/supply chain functions for a multi-unit restaurant chain.
  • Experience managing supplier partner relationships and negotiating contracts.
  • Knowledgeable in food commodities and commodity purchasing.
  • Experience in collaborating and managing both up and down of others is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through indirect reporting relationships.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects under extreme deadlines.
  • Strong communicator with solid interpersonal, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Passion for the hospitality business.
