About the position

We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Assistant Purchasing Manager for our large homebuilding client. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the strategic sourcing of inventory products and the development of new supplier relationships to ensure our inventory needs are consistently met without leading to shortages or overstock situations. This role is critical in maintaining the efficiency of our supply chain and logistics operations, ensuring that all procurement processes align with the company's goals and objectives. The Assistant Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement of contracted inventory products, ensuring a smooth supply chain and logistics operation. This includes managing rail logistics, coordinating car placements, and handling demurrage and transfer operations between plants. The candidate will prepare and confirm contracts, engage in vendor sourcing, and lead negotiation sessions to secure favorable terms for the company. In addition to inventory management, the role involves conducting non-inventory purchasing and maintaining strict inventory control to ensure that operating levels of supplies are consistent. The Assistant Purchasing Manager will analyze bids, review invoices, and identify future company needs to forward-buy products for savings. Fulfilling audit responsibilities and conducting routine supplier business reviews to evaluate performance and compliance are also key aspects of this position. The candidate will negotiate contracts with builder trades for new and existing community developments, read and interpret architectural plans, and maintain budgets for community models, elevations, and options. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail to ensure that all procurement activities support the overall success of the organization.
