About the position

The position involves managing inventory and vendor relationships for an Asian grocery and produce distributor serving various food service sectors in the Tri-State Area. The role requires fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese and focuses on ensuring efficient stock levels, resolving backorders, and enhancing the purchasing process through cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Review and place Vendor Purchase Orders to ensure efficient stocking of items to meet customer demand.
• Manage inventory and develop plans to achieve inventory turn goals.
• Expedite and devise alternative solutions to resolve backorders in a timely manner.
• Identify slow-moving inventory and initiate supplier returns or collaborate with marketing and sales to sell through inventory.
• Develop internal cross-functional relationships to enhance the purchasing process.
• Ensure timely product delivery and quality through frequent interaction with vendors and Product Managers.
• Meet with Product Managers regularly to discuss and resolve issues and review product line performance relative to goals.
• Coordinate with suppliers and product managers to identify and reconcile gaps and supply shortages.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher.
• Experience with Forecasting and Demand Planning.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Excel.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience in a start-up environment with constant changes and incremental improvements.
• Experience setting up slots and par levels based on product, vendor, lead time, and inventory turn rate.
• Experience with forecasting inventory requirements.
• Experience with perishable goods such as fresh produce.
