About the position

The Global Sourcing Organization at Avaya is seeking a Procurement Senior Manager with a strong background in software procurement. This role is pivotal in managing a software spend portfolio exceeding $50 million and involves direct interaction with Avaya's Senior Management and Executive Teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing software solutions that support various internal business units, ensuring that the procurement process aligns with Avaya's strategic goals. The position requires a deep understanding of software licensing models and the ability to negotiate complex agreements that address critical areas such as intellectual property, liability, and risk management. In this role, you will be accountable for both hands-on sourcing activities and the development of sourcing strategies. This includes collaborating with internal stakeholders to assess their short and long-term needs, ensuring that appropriate agreements and sourcing events are executed effectively. While the primary focus will be on software sourcing, the candidate may also take on responsibilities in other procurement areas in the future, making experience in various commodity categories advantageous. The position demands a structured approach to sourcing, supplier evaluation, and award processes, adhering to procurement practices that ensure cost efficiency, quality, and delivery performance metrics. You will be tasked with understanding business needs and developing sourcing strategies that align with those needs. Daily activities will include managing sourcing requests, negotiating global agreements for software and related services, and drafting contractual terms that meet Avaya's business objectives while minimizing risk exposure. Compliance with Avaya's policies and procedures is essential, as is the ability to consult with internal departments to evaluate software solutions and develop Requests for Proposal (RFPs) that meet their requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and work within a framework related to sourcing, supplier evaluation & award, following procurement practices & ensuring cost, quality & delivery performance metrics for your commodity.
  • Understand business needs; develop and manage short and long term sourcing strategies which meet those needs.
  • Manage day to day sourcing activities, including reviewing purchase requests, SOWs and resolving stakeholder queries issues.
  • Negotiate global agreements for software and related support services; review and amend existing agreements.
  • Draft appropriate contractual terms to achieve Avaya's business, financial and contract objectives while minimizing or eliminating risk exposure to Avaya.
  • Consult with internal departments, evaluating software solutions & licensing models to support their needs and developing Requests for Proposal, Quotations or Information requests that meet their requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Avaya policies, procedures and directives including adherence to minimum contract terms and receipt of approvals from various Avaya stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Established history of producing results in Indirect sourcing, with specific experience in the Software domain.
  • Experience of Sourcing, policies and practices.
  • Understanding various aspects of software licensing, Intellectual Property (IP) rights ownership and risk mitigation.
  • Applying prudent sourcing & procurement business practices and techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience closing commercial business contracts and with contracting related processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving cost savings and in supplier management.
  • Advanced experience or knowledge of the various licensing models, Hosted solutions, managed Services and Cloud Computing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Direct Purchasing is a plus.
  • Experience in managing enterprise software providers such as Microsoft, SFDC, SAP, VMWare, and Broadcom.
  • Significant knowledge of Procurement, including standard practices & policies.
