About the position

The Purchasing / Procurement Warehouse Supervisor at the Georgia Department of Public Health is responsible for overseeing procurement and warehouse operations, ensuring efficient management of supplies and equipment necessary for public health services. This role involves developing procurement strategies, supervising staff, and maintaining effective communication with vendors and customers to support the mission of protecting the health of Georgia residents.

Responsibilities

  • Develops Request for Quotes (RFQS), Request for Proposals (RFPs), and other solicitation documents based on specified sourcing strategies.
  • Supervises and plans the work of staff in performing procurement and warehouse related responsibilities, providing clear performance expectations and objectives.
  • Identifies training and/or development opportunities for assigned staff.
  • Develops, communicates, and implements agency procurement/warehouse strategies based on overall procurement objectives and customer needs.
  • Develops negotiation strategies based on vendor response and market analysis, leading negotiations with selected vendors.
  • Serves as the central point of contact for customers and vendors, establishing and maintaining communication channels.
  • Establishes and maintains inventory control systems and a record retention and disposal system.
  • Organizes procurement, storage, inventory maintenance, and distribution of supplies, equipment, and services.
  • May administer or provide high level support for various projects, grants, contracts, and implementation of procedures.
  • Purchases and distributes supplies and equipment necessary for the operations of the East Central Health District.
  • Utilizes computer skills to create, manage, analyze, and document sizable datasets and/or research information, preparing technical or statistical reports.
  • Ensures the development and capture of knowledge management activities.
  • Develops and maintains professional knowledge of the procurement field, complying with the Georgia Procurement Manual and regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting or business or a directly related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of job-related experience in a procurement environment, including two (2) years in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role.
  • Technical diploma in accounting or business from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of job-related experience in a procurement environment, including two (2) years in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel (Intermediate).
  • Good time management skills, able to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience working with the public, with excellent customer service skills and the ability to complete work timely.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public health procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of Georgia Procurement Manual and regulations.
