About the position

Our client is a leading construction firm that specializes in delivering high-quality commercial projects with a focus on efficiency and excellence. They are seeking a Purchasing Project Manager to join their team. This candidate will oversee the sourcing and acquisition of materials, equipment, and services necessary for commercial construction projects. This position focuses on managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring procurement aligns with project timelines and budget constraints. In this role, the Purchasing Project Manager will develop and implement procurement plans, identify and negotiate with suppliers, and ensure materials are delivered according to project schedules. The candidate will collaborate with project management teams to anticipate material needs, oversee delivery schedules, and adapt procurement plans to meet project changes. Additionally, the manager will monitor and manage procurement budgets, identify potential cost-saving measures, and provide regular budget compliance reports. Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, addressing and resolving any vendor issues, and keeping accurate and up-to-date procurement records will also be key responsibilities. Furthermore, the Purchasing Project Manager will ensure that all procurement practices comply with company guidelines and relevant industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the sourcing and acquisition of materials, equipment, and services for commercial construction projects.
  • Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure favorable terms.
  • Develop and implement procurement plans that align with project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to anticipate material needs and oversee delivery schedules.
  • Monitor and manage procurement budgets, identifying potential cost-saving measures.

  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines and relevant industry standards in all procurement practices.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in the construction or commercial construction industry.
  • Strong skills in negotiation, project management, and communication.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and advanced skills in Excel.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and equipment is essential.
