About the position

The Receiving/Storeroom Assistant Manager at Sonesta plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of the storeroom and receiving department. This position involves overseeing the receipt of all food, beverage, materials, and equipment delivered through the loading dock. The Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring that all incoming items meet quality standards, including checking for freshness, temperature, quantity, size, price, and accuracy against food order sheets. Any discrepancies must be raised with the chef or the appropriate department. Additionally, the Assistant Manager will manage the organization and sanitation of the loading dock and storerooms, ensuring that all products are secured immediately in the stockroom. The role also includes maintaining biweekly inventory of food stockroom items and ensuring that all incoming products comply with standard purchase specifications in the EPRO purchase order system. The Assistant Manager will collaborate closely with the Sales and Marketing team to manage guest packages, ensuring they are logged, delivered to the front desk, and billed to the appropriate guest room. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, responding efficiently to internal and external requests, inquiries, and problems to maintain high levels of satisfaction. In addition to these responsibilities, the Assistant Manager is expected to deliver passionate and engaging service to guests, recognizing their unique needs and exceeding their expectations. The role also involves building solid relationships with colleagues and may require working in other areas of the hotel to assist operations as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to prioritize and multitask, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Receive all food, beverage, materials, equipment, and guest packages delivered through the loading dock.
  • Check for freshness, quality, quantity, size, price, and accuracy against food order sheets and raise discrepancies with the chef.
  • Compare incoming items with order sheets to ensure proper item, price, and specifications are met.
  • Secure all products immediately in the stockroom after receipt.
  • Conduct biweekly inventory of food stockroom items.
  • Maintain organization and sanitation of receiving/storerooms/loading dock.
  • Check incoming products against standard purchase specifications in EPRO and receive purchase orders as needed.
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing regarding guest packages for events.
  • Log guest packages, deliver them to the front desk, and ensure they are billed to the guest room.
  • Respond to customer requests and inquiries efficiently to maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain all paperwork and archiving accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure the security of information held within the department.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years' experience working in a similar or translatable environment.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
  • Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience.
  • Excellent communication skills for training and safety purposes, and when interacting with guests and associates.
  • Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Computer knowledge, preferably with Microsoft systems.
  • Experience with procurement and PMS systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
