About the position

The Purchasing and Stores Manager at International Paper is responsible for overseeing all purchasing and storeroom functions at the Henderson mill. This role involves managing sourcing and inventory in alignment with operational needs and global sourcing policies. The manager will lead a team, ensure safety compliance, optimize inventory management, and maintain vendor relationships to drive cost savings and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage all Purchasing and Storeroom functions for the Henderson mill.
• Supervise and lead a team of 2-3 salaried employees and train Global Sourcing Associates and Interns.
• Promote a safe work environment and contribute to the mill's safety program.
• Purchase materials and services from suppliers at the lowest cost while ensuring quality and reliability.
• Maintain the condition and count of stored items to support operations and maintenance.
• Identify and implement initiatives for optimizing storeroom inventory valued at approximately $6 million.
• Provide prompt and professional purchasing services to internal customers.
• Manage vendor relationships, including payment and issue resolution.
• Implement storeroom management best practices and drive value to deliver cost savings.
• Participate in the Weekend Duty rotation with the Purchasing Department.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Management, Supply Chain, Finance, or Engineering preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in storeroom/receiving or warehousing, preferably in an industrial manufacturing operation.
• SAP Material Management experience required.
• Strong analytical skills and proven negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of accounting and internal controls.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a paper mill environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of maintenance/operations planning processes.
