About the position

The Purchasing and Warehouse Assistant is responsible for supporting the purchasing department with procurement activities and assisting in the management of warehouse operations. This role involves ensuring that inventory levels are maintained, orders are processed efficiently, and materials are received and stored properly. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders, requisitions, and other purchasing documents.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Review and update records of materials, prices, inventories, and deliveries.
  • Follow up on outstanding orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Assist in resolving issues related to order discrepancies, damaged goods, or incorrect shipments.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier contracts and agreements.
  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality, ensuring that the correct materials are delivered and in good condition.
  • Assist in the organization and maintenance of the warehouse, ensuring that inventory is stored in a neat, orderly, and safe manner.
  • Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Prepare and pack materials for shipment to customers or other facilities.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and delivery trucks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, including disposal of waste and recycling materials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in purchasing, warehouse operations, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Obtain certification in forklift and pallet jack operation within the first week of employment (training provided).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • CDL is preferred.
