About the position

The Purchaser / Warehouse Coordination role at North Star Ice Equipment involves managing purchasing activities and assisting with warehouse coordination through ERP systems. This position is essential for sourcing materials, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring efficient operations within the warehouse. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of working independently to support both purchasing and warehouse functions.

Responsibilities

  • Source suppliers, obtain quotes, place orders, and ensure timely delivery of parts, materials, and components.
  • Use ERP systems to manage inventory, process orders, track deliveries, and support inventory accuracy across warehouse operations.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM) to ensure accurate procurement of parts and materials according to specifications.
  • Monitor stock levels, update inventory accurate data in the ERP system, and coordinate with warehouse staff to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Place and track orders within the ERP system, coordinating with suppliers and warehouse to ensure materials are received and stored correctly.
  • Generate and analyze ERP reports for inventory levels, purchase history, and warehouse transactions to support informed purchasing and warehouse decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for savings by analyzing market trends, comparing prices, and evaluating supplier options.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain roles, with experience in warehouse or inventory coordination.
  • ERP system experience required.
  • Ability to understand mechanical components and read technical drawings and BOMs to ensure accurate procurement.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) with the ability to manage inventory, process orders, and generate reports.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent accuracy in data entry and inventory management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage both purchasing and warehouse ERP responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with purchasing processes, inventory control, and ERP systems, along with an understanding of technical specifications for mechanical components.
