About the position

The Purchasing/Warehouse Specialist at Kent Moore Cabinets is responsible for purchasing and receiving materials, supplies, and services essential for the manufacturing and operation of a custom cabinet shop. This role involves managing and overseeing the purchasing and receiving processes for the finishing and assembly plant. The specialist will work closely with production personnel, users, and vendors to address any issues related to defective or unacceptable goods or services, determining the necessary corrective actions. Additionally, the position requires directing and coordinating activities related to the procurement of goods and services, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. The Purchasing/Warehouse Specialist will also be tasked with various duties assigned by the supervisor, which may include cross-training in the roles of Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Agent for other manufacturing facilities. This position may require occasional transportation between facilities, highlighting the need for flexibility and adaptability in the role. The specialist must possess strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, critical thinking skills, and sound judgment and decision-making capabilities to excel in this position. Physical and mental demands of the job include standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and performing various tasks that require bending, stretching, reaching, and twisting. The specialist must be proficient in using office computer programs, spreadsheets, and be willing to learn new software as needed. Effective communication with management, coworkers, subordinates, and customers is crucial, as is the ability to work in varying temperature conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase and receive materials, supplies, and services necessary for manufacturing and operation.
  • Manage and oversee purchasing and receiving for the finishing and assembly plant.
  • Confer with production personnel, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
  • Direct and coordinate activities involving procurement of goods and services.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor, including cross-training of Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Agent duties for other manufacturing facilities.
  • Transport materials between facilities as required.

Requirements

  • College degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two to five years experience in the purchasing field.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with office computer programs and spreadsheets, with the ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Negotiation and persuasion skills are essential.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.

  • Experience with JD Edwards and Oracle EBS.
  • Experience with SAP ERP.
