About the position
The Purina Equine Feed Sales Representative role at Land O'Lakes focuses on selling equine feed and related products in the Western Washington market. This remote position involves working closely with customers, primarily horse barns, to evaluate and enhance their feeding programs, ultimately aiming to increase sales and market share for Purina products. The representative will engage in direct sales activities, including farm visits and consultations, to build relationships and provide nutritional recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Calling on horse barns to evaluate existing feeding programs and recommend improvements.
- Selling and consulting at the farm gate with the goal of selling Purina products and growing sales.
- Developing new prospects and making sales cold calls, with up to 25 farm calls per week.
- Providing accurate feeding and management recommendations to equine enthusiasts.
- Networking within the industry to foster relationships and earn additional business.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field strongly desired.
- Basic command of making nutritional and feeding recommendations to equine enthusiasts.
- Understanding of equine management practices and nutritional guidelines.
- Work/life experience in management and care of horses.
- Strong computer skills, specifically in MS Office, and ability to learn Salesforce.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
