About the position
The Purina Feed Sales Intern position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside sales representatives and the Purina Animal Nutrition team. Interns will engage with dealers and agricultural cooperatives, gaining hands-on experience in the feed business and customer interactions. The role includes conducting on-farm feed trials, performing market research, and developing sales strategies to expand the customer base. Interns will also coordinate events for producers and gain exposure to the cooperative structure within the agricultural sector, focusing on beef or equine sales projects.
Responsibilities
- Execute summer projects to promote Purina and grow the customer base for targeted animal nutrition products.
- Participate in farm calls and market surveys with producers to ensure their needs are met.
- Assist with market analysis and research to identify current customers and help grow the customer base.
- Plan events for customers to learn more about Purina products, such as customer appreciation days and clinics.
- Develop in-store selling skills and assist walk-in customers with their needs, including taking over-the-phone feed orders.
Requirements
- Pursuing an animal science or agriculture-related bachelor's degree preferred with sophomore, junior, or senior status.
- Understanding of animal husbandry, management practices, nutritional guidelines, and industry knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal communication ability, excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Previous sales experience preferred.
- Possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
- Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
