About the position
The Purina Feed Sales Internship offers a unique opportunity for students pursuing a degree in animal science or agriculture to gain hands-on experience in sales and marketing within the agricultural sector. Interns will work closely with sales representatives and the Purina Animal Nutrition team, engaging with dealers and agricultural cooperatives to learn about the feed business and customer needs. The internship will focus on beef or equine sales projects, providing exposure to various aspects of the industry, including on-farm feed trials, market research, and event coordination.
Responsibilities
- Execute summer projects to promote Purina and grow customer base while generating sales of targeted animal nutrition products.
- Participate in farm calls and market surveys with producers to ensure their needs are met.
- Assist with market analysis and research to identify current customers and help grow the customer base.
- Plan events for customers to learn more about Purina products, such as customer appreciation days and open houses.
- Develop in-store selling skills and assist walk-in customers with their needs, including taking customer over-the-phone feed orders.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in animal science or agriculture-related field, preferably with sophomore, junior, or senior status.
- Understanding of animal husbandry, management practices, nutritional guidelines, and industry knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Previous sales experience preferred.
- Possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
- Valid work authorization to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
- Ability to live within the specified geographical areas.
