Purina Feed Sales Representative

About the position

The Purina Feed Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales of beef cattle, small ruminant, and show animal feed within the North/Central Virginia territory. This remote, field-based role involves consulting with farmers to evaluate and enhance their feeding programs, conducting educational events, and building relationships to optimize market share and efficiency for the cooperative/dealer.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing feeding programs for beef cattle, small ruminants, and show animals and recommend nutritional improvements.
• Conduct up to 25 farm calls per week to sell Purina products and grow sales and market share.
• Develop new prospects and make cold sales calls to potential customers.
• Organize and conduct educational meetings/events for 4H clubs, veterinarians, and other groups to enhance brand image and drive product sales.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or a related field strongly desired.
• Proven sales experience in the agricultural or animal nutrition industry is highly desired.
• Basic knowledge of nutritional and feeding recommendations for cattle, small ruminants, and show animals.
• Understanding of animal husbandry, management practices, and nutritional guidelines for the relevant species.
• Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Office and the ability to learn software like HerdSmart and Salesforce.
• Experience with cattle, small ruminants, or show animals.
