About the position

The PYC Kindergarten Teacher - Maternity Leave Substitute position at Columbus School for Girls is a full-time role from April 2025 to June 2025. The teacher will co-teach in the kindergarten classroom, providing high-quality education and care for children aged three to six years. This role emphasizes collaboration with the kindergarten team and the use of the Reggio Emilia approach to learning, ensuring a supportive and engaging environment for young learners.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively as a lead co-teacher in the kindergarten classroom.
• Plan curriculum and project work with co-teachers and studio teacher.
• Supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Support and extend student work in the classroom through questioning and reflection.
• Prepare a snack in the morning before school.
• Provide written documentation of student growth using portfolios and continuums.
• Attend planning, division, department, and full faculty and staff meetings as requested.
• Participate in Admission events and field trips.
• Perform administrative duties such as assisting in Before Hours, lunch, recess, and student pick-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in early childhood or child development.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Experience in math and Structured Literacy instruction in early childhood.
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine appreciation for the development of young children.
