About the position

Genesis10 is currently seeking an Application Programmer with our client in the financial industry located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12 + month contract position. The role involves performing design, coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process, providing innovative and creative solutions in a collaborative manner under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will build sophisticated and complex functionality to the Treasury business to enhance the management of the client's liquidity. Maintaining high standards and following best practices is essential, including re-factoring existing code to improve readability, performance, and overall structure. The position requires strong expertise and working experience in Python, along with a record of successful delivery of software applications both individually and as part of a team. A solid understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) is crucial, with a desire to implement continuous delivery and integration within the development life cycle. Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and principles is also important. The candidate should be self-motivated, self-managed, a team player, action and results-focused, and possess a high command of verbal and written English to clearly communicate design, architecture, implementations, and requirements. Knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms, ORM libraries like SQL Alchemy, and experience with various databases (relational/document/etc.), including NoSQL databases, is required. The candidate should have experience building distributed and scalable complex services, as well as RESTful services and robust microservices. Additionally, experience with web services development and REST interfaces in Python, along with analytic reporting tools like Tableau, is necessary. Strong analytical skills to perform technical and functional analysis, coupled with excellent communication skills, are essential for working with business users to gather complex requirements and translate them into actionable items for developers, often involving quick prototyping.
