About the position

We are seeking a skilled Python Developer who is eligible to obtain a security clearance. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing software related to geospatial computing and big data architectures. A strong understanding of spatial-enabled databases, particularly PostgreSQL with PostGIS, is essential, as well as the ability to execute spatial data queries effectively. The successful candidate will be well-versed in software development best practices, including Agile development methodologies, version control using Git or GitFlow, and project management tools such as JIRA or Asana. Familiarity with open-source tools, OGC web services, and web development frameworks is also required. Additionally, experience with data collection processes or Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes will be beneficial. Candidates must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Security Clearance. Preferred qualifications include hands-on experience in software systems, data systems, analytics, and geospatial research projects. Knowledge of real-time architectures and map services software libraries is a plus. A strong understanding of multiple operating systems and exposure to microservices concepts, including container environments like Docker and Kubernetes, is also desirable. Proficiency in Python and its modules, such as requests and pandas/geopandas, along with experience in web server capabilities like Flask, is essential. Previous experience in a government, scientific, or highly technical environment is preferred, as is the ability to balance complex research and security requirements.

Requirements

Nice-to-haves
