About the position

This position is for a permanent, onsite role in downtown Austin, focusing on backend development primarily using Python. The role requires a strong background in web application development and experience with various frameworks and technologies, including Flask, Django, and cloud services like AWS. The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining custom applications, ensuring high-quality code through testing and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom web applications using Python and Flask.
• Integrate custom code with third-party web services.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs for various applications.
• Design and optimize relational database schemas and queries.
• Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Conduct software testing, including TDD and unit testing.
• Utilize containerization technologies like Docker for application deployment.
• Monitor application performance using tools like Datadog or New Relic.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience with Python programming.
• 5+ years of experience in custom application development.
• Strong experience in developing web applications using Flask, with openness to Django or Pyramid.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and best practices.
• Experience with software testing methodologies, including TDD and unit testing.
• Proficient in relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.
• Solid experience in building RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Jira, and Confluence.
• Experience working within the AWS ecosystem.
• Familiarity with application monitoring tools like Datadog or New Relic.
