About the position

The Python Developer Internship at MDMi focuses on developing and managing data architectures and ETL pipelines to support STEM data management solutions. Interns will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create custom software solutions, ensuring data quality and compliance with security standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with industry leaders and gain hands-on experience in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data architectures and ETL pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build custom software solutions for materials, chemical, and STEM data management.
• Apply data management best practices for optimized storage, retrieval, and governance.
• Partner with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into data pipelines.
• Develop, test, and maintain APIs for interoperability between applications.
• Author and maintain well-documented Python scripts and libraries.
• Engage directly with clients to understand their technical needs and provide support.
• Utilize tools for source control and issue tracking, participating in agile project planning.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python 3 and Apache Spark.
• Experience with SQL and ETL processes.
• Familiarity with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of database design and data structures, including JSON and XML.
• Proficient with Git for version control and collaboration.
• Experience in software testing and quality assurance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Power BI and Tableau.
• Familiarity with data security standards like CMMC and GDPR.
• Project management skills.
• Experience with other programming languages and paradigms.
