We are looking for an experienced software engineer, with a strong data sciences orientation, in Durham, NC. This person will be a senior engineer for the HTAC product within Broadcom's Mainframe software portfolio. HTAC is a suite of integration analytics capabilities that we deliver to customers. HTAC's purpose is to analyze CICS workload and performance by the origin of the request, whether that's a TN3270 connection, zOS Connect, MQ, CTG, etc. This allows customers to evaluate the relative efficiency of various channels of CICS integration and focus their optimization efforts. The selected candidate will spend time designing aspects of the product, building out data handling and analytics capabilities, and writing code in languages ranging from Splunk SPL, to Python/Pandas, and GraphQL in the future. Demonstrated experience with the following technologies, both in principal and in practice, is what we are looking for: Event and Data Publication platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka), Data Streaming concepts and platforms (e.g., Kafka Streams, Google Datastream, Apache Flink, Apache Beam), Pipeline Data Processing concepts and languages (e.g., Splunk SPL), DataFrame concepts and operations (e.g., Python/Pandas), and Real-time observability platforms (e.g., OpenTelemetry). Graph database principles and appropriate use cases (e.g., NEO4j) are also essential. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in one or more of the above technologies - and the demonstrated ability to learn others. Given that HTAC is focused on integration analytics between mainframe and non-mainframe systems, experience in heterogeneous environments is highly desirable. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills are a must, and your ability to adapt with changing priorities is an important strength. In this role, you will work within the development organization to drive the product forward with engineering, architecture, and customer interactions. The individual and team goal is to create and maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives. This is an in-office position (5 days/week) located in Durham, NC. Being able to work on mission-critical, high-importance software is a must. Mainframe has grown 350% over the past decade. 67 for the Fortune 100, 45 of the world's top 50 banks, 8 of the top 10 insurers, 4 of the top 5 airlines, and 7 of the 10 global retailers all rely on mainframes. Mainframes literally run the world's economy.
