About the position

Our client is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer / Software Engineer to join their engineering team. This role is ideal for a skilled software engineer with cloud and infrastructure experience who is looking to grow. The position focuses on platform engineering, particularly in provisioning and deprovisioning Azure resources using Terraform, and building automation tasks with Python. It offers a great opportunity for software tooling development.

Responsibilities

• Provisioning and deprovisioning of Azure resources using Terraform
• Building automation tasks using Python
• Architecting and building internal software tools
• Implementing Continuous Delivery and Integration frameworks including deployment automation and configuration management
• Managing test and source code/git repositories
• Working with containers
• Collaborating within an Agile/Scrum environment
• Understanding core internet protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP
• Managing network administration tasks including load balancers, VLAN, and firewalls

Requirements

• 8 years of software engineering experience
• 4+ years of software engineering in an application development capacity
• 4+ years of automation and scripting experience using Python
• 8+ years of experience building automation/configuration management infrastructure such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, and/or Puppet
• Experience leveraging Docker within a local development workflow
• 8+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (ADO)
• 6+ years of experience deploying production code using Docker containers
• Experience using cloud services, preferably AWS and Azure
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems architectures
• Knowledge in databases
• Strong background in Linux administration and network administration

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Java/Spring Boot
• Familiarity with CQRS and event streaming technologies like Kafka and Spark
