About the position

The Junior UX/UI Designer position at the Texas Department of Transportation is designed for individuals passionate about user experience and interface design. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders and the web team to create user-centered designs that meet business objectives while advocating for user needs. The designer will contribute to the development of a digital design system and assist in user research activities, ensuring that accessibility best practices are integrated into the design process.

Responsibilities

• Help design engaging user-centered experiences for websites
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and define business objectives
• Create user journey maps, empathy maps, and user personas
• Contribute to enterprise digital design system
• Collaborate with senior designer on components and document user interface states and development requirements
• Identify technical, business, and time limitations and design within these constraints
• Assist with user research activities documenting and implementing actionable feedback
• Contribute to vendor application/product reviews
• Stay up-to-date with UX best practices and industry standards
• Assist in translating industry standards, like Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) into understandable guidelines for user experience and interface design
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
