About the position

The QA Analyst role focuses on hardware testing rather than software, working closely with engineers who conduct the majority of the testing. The position is based in Washington, DC, and is offered on a contract basis at a rate of $50 per hour. The role emphasizes continuous process improvement and operational excellence methodologies, requiring a strong background in quality assurance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews formal test plans and documented test results.
  • Reviews project deliverables and produces compliance checklists.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and makes recommendations on QA tasks within enterprise-wide processes such as test life cycles, change management, and release management.
  • Adheres to and enforces QA processes.
  • Conducts investigations on identified technical and operational problems on installed networks, systems, and products.
  • Produces QA Root Cause Analysis documents following problem investigations.
  • Prepares, maintains, and reviews documentation on all QA phases.
  • Provides coaching to less-experienced individuals.
  • Verifies that documented system requirements have been met.
  • Supports the continued evolution of QA strategies and activities supporting best practices and quality deployments.

Requirements

  • Experience in the implementation of continuous process improvement, Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies in the operational environment.
  • A proven toolkit of operational excellence methodologies with the ability to implement and drive process improvements throughout the organization.
  • Ability to develop a standard set of metrics to track operational performance and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Formal training/certification in one or more tool sets.
  • Experience in the Capability Model Maturity Integration (CMMI) appraisal process.
