About the position

The QA Analyst III position at SECU is designed to enhance the organization's quality assurance efforts by providing comprehensive testing and quality control services. This role is crucial in ensuring that SECU delivers high-quality products and services to its members and employees. The QA Analyst III will analyze business requirements, create test cases, execute various testing levels, and lead testing efforts for complex projects while mentoring junior staff and contributing to process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements and technical specifications for validity, completeness, and testability.
  • Create and maintain a library of test cases.
  • Execute various levels of testing including Functional, System, Integrated, Regression, UI, Usability, Accessibility, Compatibility, and Exploratory.
  • Define and document testing scope, risks, and assumptions to develop effective test plans for high complexity projects.
  • Develop test plans and strategies for assigned test efforts.
  • Provide effort estimates for assigned testing activities and projects.
  • Detect, report, and track system defects and inconsistencies.
  • Administer defect tracking systems to support issue tracking needs for projects.
  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical team members within both IS and the business community.
  • Lead planning and issue status meetings as needed.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the SDLC.
  • Lead testing efforts for high complexity enterprise projects and operational changes.
  • Mentor new and junior employees on department and project team processes and procedures.
  • Produce documentation of processes and reference material to achieve consistency and standardization for assigned test efforts.
  • Lead test efforts for multiple application teams and platforms with minimal assistance.
  • Provide accurate updates to management and project teams on testing progress.
  • Provide objective feedback to software development and project teams.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Developers, and System Administrators to complete projects on time.
  • Attend training sessions on new products and systems to support testing efforts.
  • Contribute to process improvement ideas for the department and the SDLC.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems, or CCUE Certification, or an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree through the NC-CTP, or a combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of proven work experience as a software tester or in a similar role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Critical thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers as a team player.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in performance and its impact on the organization's success.
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of testing best practices and methodologies.
  • Experience with and administering test management software.
  • Understanding of and experience with test automation tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of system architecture for supported applications.
  • Commitment to complete continuing education and training courses as assigned.
