About the position

The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst to join our Enterprise Business Solutions Department in Oak Brook, IL. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing and testing both internal and external-facing enterprise applications, ensuring they are free of defects and meet the business needs of our customers. This role is crucial in maintaining the reliability and quality of our systems, which serve approximately 3,000 municipal employers across Illinois. You will work closely with developers and other team members to support innovative, adaptive, and reliable applications that align with our organizational goals. In this position, you will analyze application functionality, understand business requirements, and collaborate with vendors to prepare for User Acceptance Testing. You will create and execute testing scripts to identify defects across various testing levels and conduct system tests to ensure seamless cross-platform integration. Your proactive communication will be essential in addressing issues that may impact application releases, and you will track testing activities while completing daily reports. As one of the final decision-makers on application readiness for production implementation, your expertise will guide the team in ensuring high-quality deliverables. Additionally, you will monitor production tickets, assign them to appropriate staff for resolution, and participate in technology forums and industry user groups to stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in quality assurance. Responsibilities

  • Analyze and test application functionality to ensure the applications are free of defects.
  • Understand business requirements to ensure that the delivered application meets the needs of the customer.
  • Work with COTS vendor to prepare for User Acceptance Testing.
  • Create and execute testing scripts to identify application defects for different levels of testing.
  • Conduct system tests to ensure cross-platform integration.
  • Partner with Technical Lead, Technical Integration Analysts and other team members to resolve open issues and retest functionality.
  • Proactively and urgently communicate issues impacting application release.
  • Continuously suggest new testing tools and ways to decrease testing time and effort.
  • Track testing activities and complete daily reports.
  • Act as one of the final decision makers on application readiness for production implementation.
  • Work within an approved testing methodology, tracking functionality and defect cases.
  • Monitor production tickets for all EBS areas of responsibility and assign them to appropriate staff for resolution.
  • Be involved with technology forums and industry user groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 16 credit hours in computer science (programming, testing, quality, or related subjects) preferred.
  • 3 years' experience in testing secure external web applications.
  • Experience in application requirements, business process analysis, and quality tools that manage and track defects (e.g. HP Quality).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with mobile applications and load testing is a plus.
