About the position

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring high-quality products and services in the industrial Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) sectors. This role involves managing testing competence, coordinating quality control processes, and overseeing test planning and execution in a dynamic production environment. The manager will work closely with various teams to meet technology implementation and software quality benchmarks, ensuring that all systems function optimally and meet operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage emulation startup for all QA components/integrations and ensure all automated processes are executing properly for emulation validation.
  • Coordinate data backups and data edits to support emulation runs.
  • Oversee and coordinate software release installations with various vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Track performance KPIs from emulation runs, analyze data to determine performance gains/losses, and provide recommendations to operational teams following analysis.
  • Monitor real-time emulation performance and troubleshoot/intervene as needed.
  • Document cases and scenarios for production/lower-level defects using Jira as the underlying platform.
  • Attend and contribute to defect resolution triage calls with various vendors, and work with vendors to correct defects.
  • Responsible for unit testing, smoke testing, and regression testing in lower environments.
  • Review test results and observed behaviors to determine if the software meets quality assurance standards.
  • Consult with departments that frequently utilize the software being tested to understand operational use and adapt testing based on user feedback.
  • Utilize critical and out-of-the-box thinking to identify new or creative ways to test that aren't outlined in software release notes.
  • Communicate release note results and test information to relevant operation teams and work with operational teams to address results.

Requirements

  • Education: Engineering or business degree and certification in Information Technology, Software Engineering or related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of terminal operating technology experience; TBA Controls emulation experience is preferred; Operational Technology and integration experience is preferred; Kalmar/Navis experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Test planning & Defect management software tools and applications; ITIL lifecycle and certification is preferred; Experience with Marine Terminal Operations System (TOS) is a plus.
