About the position

The QA Engineer position focuses on managing and overseeing the Next Generation 911 (NG911) system for the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). This role is critical in continuing the project work for the Class 1/2/3 and NG911 Call Handling upgrade of the emergency call system. The QA Engineer will provide expertise and technical specialization during the testing and configuration phases, ensuring that all processes adhere to industry regulatory and quality standards. The responsibilities include developing and executing exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality specific to Fire and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD). The QA Engineer will create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases related to Fire and EMD dispatch. Additionally, the role involves developing, prioritizing, and coordinating testing activities with FDNY and associated vendors, as well as developing and executing automation scripts in support of Fire and EMD. The position requires the application of testing processes to ensure the highest quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing and overseeing the NG911 - FDNY system.
  • Continue project work for the Class 1/2/3 and NG911 Call Handling upgrade of the emergency call system.
  • Provide expertise and technical specialization during the testing and configuration phases.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulatory and quality standards.
  • Develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality specific to FIRE and EMD.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases related to FIRE & EMD dispatch.
  • Develop, prioritize, and coordinate testing activities with FDNY and associated vendors.
  • Develop and execute automation scripts in support of FIRE and EMD.
  • Develop and apply testing processes in support of FIRE and EMD.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in a particular technical and/or business application, product, platform, methodology or skill set.
  • Experience in Testing Public Safety/Dispatch Applications or systems (3 years required).
  • Previous integration/test experience on a large system (5 years required).
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills (4 years required).
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving any issue, both technical and non-technical.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience utilizing Selenium Test.
