About the position

The QA Analyst at TaxSlayer is responsible for ensuring the quality of software products by creating and executing comprehensive test plans. This role involves analyzing system requirements, writing test cases, and managing testing activities to ensure that products meet company standards and user expectations. The QA Analyst plays a crucial role in the development process by collaborating with the development team to identify and resolve issues, ultimately contributing to the overall success of TaxSlayer's tax preparation software.

Responsibilities

  • Implement efficient and effective test plans for new systems, problems, and enhancements.
  • Analyze and dissect system requirements and technical specifications to create and execute test cases.
  • Write test cases and execute testing in all system applications.
  • Plan, document, evaluate, and track testing results to ensure system applications are free from known defects.
  • Maintain a database of software defects.
  • Test new and legacy custom applications, with or without the use of formal test cases/scripts.
  • Assist the development team in debugging and replicating issues.
  • Test Internet and client-server applications against specifications and documentation.
  • Participate in walk-through, inspection, review, and user group meetings for quality assurance.
  • Participate in production implementation verification and validate system quality.
  • Gain and maintain familiarity with all operating environments.
  • Operate and maintain test environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance Testing.
  • Knowledge of basic programming, software installation, and network configuration.
  • Ability to test complex multi-tiered web-based systems and desktop applications.
  • Ability to learn tax laws and tax preparation processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred knowledge of writing database queries to validate data.
  • Ability to effectively work with any coworker within the team or division.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge and translate technical concepts to non-technical resources and coworkers.
  • Ability to test multiple product lines.
