About the position

BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Application Programmer (QA Analyst) for an opportunity in Plano, TX, and Jersey City, NJ. The anticipated start date for this position is as soon as possible, although this date is subject to change. BCforward will provide official notice ahead of a confirmed start date. This position is expected to last for 12 months and is classified as a contract role with a hybrid work model. The working hours are Monday to Friday, with a standard shift of 5x8 hours. As a QA Analyst, you will be responsible for both manual and automation testing, with a strong emphasis on database testing. Your primary duties will include developing, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts using tools such as TOSCA and Selenium. You will design and implement test cases and scenarios based on project requirements and specifications, conduct functional, regression, and end-to-end testing, and perform database testing to ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy. In this role, you will write and execute complex SQL queries to verify data in relational databases. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with product owners, business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and design comprehensive test plans. You will also be responsible for identifying, documenting, and tracking defects through JIRA, as well as creating, managing, and executing test cases in test case management tools such as Qtest and Octane. Additionally, you will run metrics and generate reports on defects and test cases in JIRA and Qtest, actively participate in agile/scrum routines, and contribute to process improvements. Understanding the requirements and identifying gaps will be crucial, as will comprehending the high-level design of different integration types such as file, database, and API. The ability to collaborate and work with multiple teams, both onshore and offshore, is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in QA testing with a strong background in automation and database testing.
  • Proficiency in using automation tools such as TOSCA and Selenium.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Experience working in agile and scrum methodologies.
  • Experience working with test case management tools such as Octane and Qtest.
  • Experience with testing file/DB/API integrations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based testing environments and CICD pipeline.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Familiarity with Unix.
