About the position

The QA Analyst position is a critical role within our organization, responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of new or modified applications and systems. This position operates under minimal supervision and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute manual functional tests. The QA Analyst will be tasked with creating, modifying, and executing test cases and plans that adhere to high-quality standards as outlined in the requirement and functional specifications. This role requires a proactive approach to seeking clarifications on requirements to ensure comprehensive test coverage and effective documentation of any bugs or defects encountered during testing. In addition to executing tests, the QA Analyst will play a key role in collaborating with development teams to facilitate retesting and defect closure. Clear communication is essential, as the analyst will be responsible for providing concise status updates on assigned tasks and compiling test reports that summarize the results of testing activities. The position also involves assisting in the creation and maintenance of test data within test environments to meet specific test conditions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both Waterfall and Agile software delivery frameworks, along with proven interpersonal and communication skills. A service-oriented mindset, self-motivation, and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role. The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively will also be essential in this fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute manual functional tests for new or modified applications/systems.
  • Create, modify, and execute manual functional test cases and test plans for applications.
  • Seek requirement clarifications to adequately cover test conditions.
  • Document bugs or defects with relevant information.
  • Collaborate with development and other team members in retesting and defect closure.
  • Provide clear and concise status of assigned tasks for test reports covering the results of testing activities.
  • Assist in creating/maintaining test data in test environments to satisfy the test conditions.

Requirements

  • 4 or more years of experience in enterprise-level software testing with web-based applications in a large-scale, relational database environment.
  • 2 or more years of experience in implementing and using a variety of quality assurance methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile software delivery frameworks.
  • Proven interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a cross-functional team and build relationships to collaborate and deliver working software.
  • Service-oriented, self-motivated, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Automation or Performance QA tools like QTP and Load Runner.
  • Knowledge of API testing tools like Soap UI.
  • Knowledge of database concepts including creating, modifying, and executing SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
