About the position

The Quality Assurance Analyst at Pappas Restaurants Inc. is responsible for developing and establishing quality assurance standards for restaurant-facing systems within the IT department. This role involves gathering and analyzing data to support business cases and system requirements, writing test plans, and tracking defects in the point-of-sale (POS) system. The QA Analyst will utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to validate IT processes through testing, ensuring that business investments in IT initiatives are maximized.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and establish quality assurance measures and testing standards for all restaurant-facing applications (e.g., POS, Recipe Viewer, iPad applications).
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives addressing existing and potential trouble areas in the new POS system.
  • Create and execute test plans and scripts to determine optimal application performance according to specifications.
  • Verify and revise quality assurance standards as needed.
  • Ensure testing activities meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfilling end-user requirements and identifying potential issues.
  • Authorize the approval or denial of software builds based on test results.
  • Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, including system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods.
  • Make recommendations for application improvements to programmers and software developers or engineers.
  • Communicate test progress, results, and relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
  • Test new software to ensure integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and technical specifications.
  • Analyze formal test results to discover and report defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
  • Assist in developing change control processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing technologies.
  • Participate in developing, distributing, and coordinating in-depth end-user reviews for modified and new systems or applications.
  • Maintain Version Control database for software consistency across deployments.
  • Maintain bug tracking and feature request database.
  • Facilitate status meetings with the POS vendor.
  • Provide 2nd level application support and 1st level help desk support.
  • Provide after-hours on-call support to the restaurants.

Requirements

  • Some college or equivalent work experience.
  • Two years experience in a technical support role.
  • Working knowledge of restaurant operations, computer hardware, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work with noise distractions and interruptions.
