About the position

The QA Analyst position at T. Marzetti Company is crucial for ensuring the quality of incoming ingredients, in-line products, and finished products. This role involves a variety of responsibilities that are essential for maintaining high standards of quality assurance in a manufacturing environment. The QA Analyst will be responsible for collecting samples of ingredients, products, or packages and monitoring tests according to established procedures. This position requires meticulous documentation of results, ensuring that all findings are recorded neatly and precisely. The QA Analyst will also label and maintain samples for retains and shelf life monitoring, organizing collected data for management review. In addition to sample collection and documentation, the QA Analyst will monitor processes to ensure they are operating consistently and will communicate any non-compliance of finished products immediately to the QA Supervisor or Manager. The role also involves maintaining lab equipment in a clean and orderly fashion, monitoring the plant for compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and recommending methods to improve processes to reduce waste, enhance productivity, and improve quality and consistency. The QA Analyst will also be tasked with accurately weighing colors, flavors, and other small ingredients, as well as testing Research and Development samples for food safety and specification development. This position may be filled on any of the following shifts: 7AM-3:30PM M-F, 11AM-7:30PM M-F, or 11PM-7:30AM M-F, providing flexibility in working hours. The QA Analyst will play a vital role in ensuring that T. Marzetti Company maintains its reputation for high-quality specialty food products.

Responsibilities

  • Collect samples of ingredients, products or packages and monitor tests according to established procedures.
  • Monitor processes to ensure they are operating consistently.
  • Document neatly and precisely all results.
  • Label and maintain samples of ingredients and samples for retains and shelf life monitoring; organize collected data for management review.
  • Maintain lab equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Communicate non-compliant results immediately to management.
  • Monitor plant for compliance to GMPs.
  • Recommend methods to improve processes to reduce waste, improve productivity, improve quality and/or consistency.
  • Accurately weigh colors, flavors and other small ingredients.
  • Test R&D samples for Food Safety & specification development.

Requirements

  • AS or BS in a science-related field preferred.
  • Basic science skills; math, accurate data collection, general lab, and computer data entry.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and make and record observations efficiently.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
  • Previous quality assurance experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently on pre-assigned tasks.
  • Ability to react and make decisions on Food Safety or Quality deviations.
  • Basic understanding of the key testing attributes measured daily in the job.
