About the position
The QA Automation Engineer position is responsible for developing and executing manual functional tests for new or modified applications and systems. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional team members and adherence to ethical standards and information protection policies. The engineer will create, modify, and execute test cases, document defects, and provide status updates on testing activities.
Responsibilities
- Create, modify and execute manual functional test cases and test plans for applications according to requirements and functional specifications.
- Seek requirement clarifications to adequately cover test conditions.
- Document bugs or defects with relevant information and collaborate with development and other team members in retesting and defect closure.
- Provide clear and concise status updates on assigned tasks for test reports covering the results of testing activities.
- Assist in creating and maintaining test data in test environments to satisfy test conditions.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile software delivery frameworks.
- Proven interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a cross-functional team and build relationships to collaborate and deliver working software.
- Service-oriented, self-motivated, with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
- 4 or more years of experience in enterprise-level software testing with web-based applications in a large scale, relational database environment, including 2 or more years' experience in implementing and using a variety of quality assurance methodologies.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of Automation or Performance QA tools like QTP, Load Runner.
- Knowledge of API testing tools like Soap UI.
- Knowledge of database concepts including creating, modifying, and executing SQL queries.
- Knowledge of the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
