About the position

The Manager of Quality Assurance (QA) is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to a team of software development professionals. This role is pivotal in maximizing the capability and capacity of resources to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within scope. The manager will identify opportunities for continuous improvement through various projects, productivity assessments, and other metric-driven insights. Reporting on operational metrics and status is a key responsibility, which includes monitoring queue churn, trending, resource utilization, risk assessment and mitigation, project initiatives, and other department-related data elements. In this position, the manager will make timely and effective decisions to ensure the team continues to progress while balancing current and future roadmap objectives. Leading change initiatives and developing strategies to support changes in engineering processes and strategy is essential. The manager will be accountable for the team's ability to enhance their knowledge and skills in software development testing, ensuring they leverage the latest industry standards and methodologies. Additionally, the role involves establishing and managing financial budgets, and may require availability outside of standard business hours as part of a rotational on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and guidance to a team of software development professionals.
  • Maximize the capability and capacity of resources to deliver high quality solutions on time and within scope.
  • Identify opportunities to practice and champion continuous improvement through projects, productivity assessments and other metric-driven insights.
  • Manage to, and report on operational metrics and status, including queue churn, trending, resource utilization, risk assessment and mitigation, project initiatives, and department-related data elements.
  • Make timely and effective decisions to ensure the team continues to move forward while balancing current and future roadmap objectives.
  • Lead change initiatives and develop strategies to support change in engineering processes and strategy.
  • Accountable for resources' ability to improve knowledge and skills required for software development testing teams to advance and leverage the latest in industry standards and software development testing methodologies.
  • Responsible for establishing and managing to financial budgets.
  • Availability outside of standard business hours as part of a rotational on-call schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of technical experience in software development testing.
  • At least 3 years of large, complex project management experience.
  • At least 2 years of leading a team of technical staff.
  • At least 2 years of experience with full lifecycle development and using Agile methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in testing secure, scalable and highly available web and mobile applications, large-scale distributed systems and cloud-based solutions.
  • Understanding of cloud-based SaaS architectures, including designing elastic solutions, distributed state, availability, scalability, etc.
  • Understanding and management of all types of test validation including Performance, Load and Stress, API, Functional, Resiliency, and Accessibility validation.
  • Excellent analytical and detail-oriented skills.
