About the position

The QA Engineer (ETL) position is a contract role focused on ensuring the quality of ETL processes and Data Warehousing systems. The role involves hands-on testing, utilizing SQL skills, and working with various ETL tools and data warehouse technologies. The engineer will contribute to innovative projects by performing data analysis, documenting QA efforts, and adapting to multiple teams while working independently.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing in ETL processes and Data Warehousing systems.
  • Utilize strong SQL skills to develop and execute queries for various testing needs.
  • Understand stored procedures and apply coding skills as needed.
  • Apply experience in functional, integration, end-to-end, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Work hands-on with ETL tools like DBT.
  • Test SQL reports, paginated reports, and other data outputs.
  • Demonstrate strong experience with data warehouse concepts and technologies like Snowflake or similar databases.
  • Perform data analysis, data profiling, and prepare test data.
  • Work on data migration projects.
  • Use automation tools such as Validator for testing.
  • Document QA efforts including acceptance criteria, source-target mapping, RTM, test plans, test cases, test results, and bug reporting.
  • Work independently as a full QA resource and adapt to multiple teams simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Strong SQL skills required.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL processes and tools like DBT.
  • Experience with data warehouse concepts and technologies such as Snowflake.
  • Ability to understand stored procedures; coding skills are a nice-to-have.
  • Extensive experience in functional, integration, end-to-end, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Solid experience in data analysis, data profiling, and preparing test data.
  • Must have experience with data migration projects.
  • Experience with automation tools like Validator is a nice-to-have.
  • Proficient in documenting QA efforts, including acceptance criteria, source-target mapping, RTM, test plans, test cases, test results, and bug reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to multiple teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Stored Procedures coding skills are a plus.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Validator.
  • Familiarity with XML, Jira, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies.
