About the position

The QA Engineer II (Manufacturing Quality Engineer) at General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is responsible for ensuring product quality through the development and implementation of process control and improvement methods. This role involves testing, inspection, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain high-quality standards in manufacturing processes, ultimately supporting the mission of the warfighter.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection to ensure products are free of flaws.
• Designs and installs sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects.
• Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborates with supplier representatives on quality problems and ensures effective corrective actions are implemented.
• Establishes quality standards for products and processes and suggests modifications to prevent defects.
• Works closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate quality risks.
• Audits production processes, raw materials, or suppliers/vendors to ensure established quality standards are met.
• Conducts root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures.
• Ensures compliance with formal external quality standards, such as ISO 9001.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree and 2-4 years of experience required.
• Quality Engineering or general Engineering degree required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Technical expertise in quality engineering.
• Ability to identify and seek needed information and research skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
